Our program at a glance:<\/p>
Aim:\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0mobilization of seniors\u00a0<\/strong> residing permanently in Non-Profit Care Homes (NPCHE), through:<\/p>- Connecting seniors<\/strong> with with secondary school students, with regular meetings<\/li>
- Geriatric Assessment<\/strong> to eligible seniors, and the implementation of suggested, to retain their level of functionality and overall health recommendations<\/li>
- training and empowering of caregivers<\/strong> and staff of the NPCHE in relation to the prevention and treatment of geriatric syndromes<\/li><\/ul>
Beneficiaries: Seniors<\/strong> residing in NPCHE who participate in the program and\u00a0caregivers and staff\u00a0<\/strong>of said NPCHE, with the ultimate goal to improve the daily life and quality of life of seniors.<\/p>When: <\/strong>2023-2024\u00a0<\/p>Where<\/strong>: Attica\u00a0<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tResults<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t
The program had 3 separate pillars, with which we achieved the following results:<\/p>
Geriatric Assessments<\/strong><\/p>- Global Geriatric Assessment (by a Geriatrician, Physiotherapist and Dietitian) for 13 seniors in Non-Profit Care Homes <\/strong>who met the appropriate medical criteria<\/li>
- \u00a09 free clinical assessments by specialist doctors<\/strong>, according to the recommendations of the Assessment<\/li>
- Re-evaluation of 10 seniors<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>
Training Seminars for Caregivers<\/strong><\/p>- 6 online thematic seminars<\/strong> for caregivers of older people<\/li>
- 4 in-person seminars<\/strong> for caregivers of elderly people in the collaborating NPCHE<\/li>
- 20 one-on-one online meetings<\/strong> of caregivers in the cooperating NPCHEs with the lecturers of the seminars<\/li>
- Training of a total of 94 caregivers from 11 non-profit organizations<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>
Online Student-Senior Meetings<\/strong><\/p>- 83 online meetings<\/strong> of Students with Seniors<\/li>
- 85 team preparation meetings<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>
In addition, through our pilot collaboration with the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences<\/strong>, 8 in-person physical strengthening meetings of undergraduate students with seniors were held.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCollaborating Partners<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t
