In late May, the meetings between NKUA students and seniors as part of the “Stronger Together: Building Intergenerational Bonds” initiative—conducted under the “Improving the Lives of the Elderly III” program—concluded.
Through intergenerational interaction and physical activities, the initiative aimed to foster the social and physical empowerment of the older adults.
Participants included:
- 11 students, organized into 4 interdisciplinary teams from 3 Departments of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA)
- 45 older adults from 4 collaborating non-profit long-term care facilities for the elderly in Attica.
The materials generated during the meetings will be incorporated into the “Guide to Good Intergenerational Practices” for the CIVIS Open Lab project “Building Intergenerational Communities,” coordinated by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
We extend our sincere thanks to our volunteers and the management of the partner elderly care facilities!
